Our vision is to worship
and glorify God. The Bible tells us “…for the Lord your God is among you, and he is a great and awesome God”
(Deuteronomy 7:21).
Consider the following: Our use of time is a reflection of the importance we place on our activity. The maximum amount of time we are given each week is 168 hrs. It normally
goes something like this.
60 to
70 hours (35 to 40%) may be spent eating and sleeping for most people
2 to
3 hours
(1 to 2%) may be spent by the average “Sunday”
attendee at church
80+
hours
(50%+) may be spent interfacing
with the world in various ways
The time given to worshiping
God together is very limited at best. We recognize that worship is much more
than just corporate gathering as a church – it should be a way of life according to Romans 12:1-2 (click to read). Every one of us should spend time with God in study, prayer and meditation on
a regular basis outside church related activities. To the extent that we do this,
shows God how much we treasure our relationship with Jesus Christ.
So you may say, “Okay
Pastor, what is your point?” Will just going to church get you into heaven?
– No. Will just going to church make you a stronger believer in Jesus Christ?
– No. Will just going to church make your life better? – No. Considering all that and if worship of this “awesome God” is more than
just going to church, why should you not use Sunday morning to catch up on your sleep?
I will let the Holy
Scripture speak the answer from Hebrews 10:24-25, “Let us think of ways to motivate
one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting
together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”
This scripture raises several
questions for you to ponder:
·
Do you have any interest in being motivated to acts of love and good works?
·
Do you have any desire to be encouraged and encourage others?
·
Are you concerned about what happens to you after this life is over?
At LMEC our desire is to
address those and other questions by reaching out and helping others become Followers
Of Christ Unto Spiritual Maturity. That is our FOCUS mission and that
is why our desire is that God would always make His presence known when we meet together to worship Him.
The awesome God who created
you loves you and is interested in what is going on in your life. Are you interested
in Him? Why don’t you visit us and see if He wants to do something “awesome”
in your life as a part of this fellowship of believers in Jesus Christ? Click here and read Ephesians 3:16-21 and you will see why we can say this with confidence.
